Marian Willberg is the Manager of the Maritime, Freight and Access policy team, recently transferred from the Ministry of Transport into the new Ministry for Cities, Environment, Regions and Transport. Her team has, to date, been responsible for advising the government on: maritime issues – including reviewing maritime legislation and establishing the Coastal Shipping Resilience Fund; freight issues – including establishing the Freight Advisory Council; and access issues – including reviewing the Total Mobility Scheme. Before taking up her current role, she managed the Ministry of Transport’s Demand Management and Revenue Team, progressing work on congestion charging and reforming the land transport revenue system, led the Crown team negotiating funding for the Auckland City Rail Link, and prior to that was the Technology & Transport Systems Policy Manager, responsible for leading the implementation of the government’s Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Technology Action Plan 2014-2018.
