Jim is the Principal Advisor Dangerous Goods at the Civil Aviation Authority. He previously served for 21 years as a pilot in the Royal New Zealand Air Force, and as a civilian helicopter pilot for 20 years in environments ranging from Northern Myanmar to Antarctica. He holds a Masters Degree in Philosophy, a Masters of Business Administration, a Diploma in Humanities, and was made a Member of the British Empire after his service with the United Nations in Bosnia. Jim has a keen interest in all things to do with the Air Transport of Dangerous Goods and is New Zealand’s representative on the ICAO Dangerous Goods Panel.
